Polititapes aureus from the Adriatic (collage)
Polititapes aureus (Gmelin, 1791) from Italy, Grado.
The picture shows beach-collected bivalve specimens. They measure around 30 mm and show a wide range of different colours and patterns. Included in this collage are the formae mabillei (Locard, 1886), texturata (Lamarck, 1818) as well as partita Bucquoy, Dautzenberg & Dollfus, 1893. In the center of the picture there is an albinotic specimen.
