Raphitoma aequalis from Iceland

Raphitoma aequalis (Jeffreys, 1867), a quite uncommon find on Iceland's beaches. Although the protoconch is broken off, the typical coloration with scattered brown spiral cords is diagnostic for this shell. The proportions of this species vary alot, as does the lenght of the siphonal canal. R. concinna (Scacchi, 1836) is quite similar but different in micro sculpture.
Future molecular studies might shed more light on this difficult genus (size: 9,4 mm).
